Floating Sauna & Squamish Day Escape

The day began at House of Lager Brewing Company, where everyone gathered before heading straight onto the water. A short boat ride carried the group from Squamish into Howe Sound, the mountains rising up around them as the city fell away.

Out on the sound, a floating wood-fired sauna waited on its own deck, with chairs set out and the water open on every side. The afternoon moved between heat and cold, with dips into the ocean breaking up time spent warming by the fire. Two of the group paused together on the deck between the mountains and the water, the sauna glowing behind them, the inflatable boat tied alongside for the trip back.

In the stillness of the sound, the deck became its own small world — wooden chairs lined up, blankets draped over them, the ladder down to the water always within reach for another plunge.

By mid-afternoon, the boat carried everyone back to Squamish, and the day shifted into a slower rhythm. Back at House of Lager Brewing Company and the nearby park, people settled into food, drinks, and conversation, letting the morning's cold water and warm sauna air give way to easy company on land.

For those not ready to let the day end, Howe Sound stayed open into the evening, with sailing and wing foiling on offer for anyone wanting to keep the water part of the day going a little longer.

The gathering closed as it began — easy, unhurried, and shaped entirely around the water, the heat, and the mountains standing over Howe Sound.
