Friday Paddle

The day began at Deep Cove, where everyone gathered under a soft, clouded sky before heading out onto the still water. Olive sat anchored against the mountains, ready for a quiet Friday on the water.

Let's paddle was the line of the day, and it played out just as simply as it sounded. Paddleboards went out onto the dark, glassy water, with the mountains rising on either side and the cove stretching out calm and wide. One board carried a dog riding along near the front, steady and content. Another carried a boy settled low near the nose, life jacket on, while a woman stood paddling behind him, guiding them both across the water near Olive.

The water stayed smooth throughout, mirroring the hills and the grey sky above, and the paddlers moved easily between the boats, taking their time, enjoying the quiet of the cove.

As the day wound down, the paddleboards made their way back toward Olive, the mountains still holding their reflection in the water. It was a calm, easy end to a Friday spent on the water at Deep Cove.
