Linthlop Islet 7 days for Fishing

The day began at East Cove, where the boat CNN sat ready among the moorings of Vancouver Island, its cockpit bright with screens and polished wood, waiting for the week ahead to begin. The plan was simple and welcome: seven days anchored near Linthlop Islet, fishing the open sea by day and taking in the quiet bay by evening.

The charts came out early, tracing the waters around Skedin Islet, the soundings and anchorage marks studied closely by a crew new to these grounds. The captain and the group worked out a course together, eager to learn the bay properly before settling in.

Out on the water, the fishing proved generous. One of the group hauled up a halibut so large it had to be held at arm's length for the photo, grinning into the wind with the fish stretched nearly the length of him. The sea stayed kind through the effort, and the catch became the story of the day.

Between casts, the bay offered its own quiet wonder — a lone orca surfacing through drifting mist along the treeline, its fin cutting a still reflection into the water, a moment someone was lucky enough to capture.

As promised, the evening turned social. A Yahull host joined the gathering, and friends from the neighborhood came aboard to share a drink and trade stories of sailing and fishing, voices carrying easily across the deck as the light faded over the cove.

The day closed with full hands and fuller conversation, the first of seven days settling in gently, with good company, good water, and a very good fish to start the week.
