Burgundy Summer Evening
An intimate waterfront evening celebrating a meaningful one-year milestone through Burgundy wine, light bites, student stories, and meaningful conversation as we look ahead to the journey to come.
September 13, 2026, 3:00 PM PT · Burrard Inlet
The day
The day began at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, where the windows opened wide onto Burrard Inlet and the tables were already dressed in white linen, candles waiting to be lit against the coming evening light. Aman Breen, Anne Lee, Helen Liang, Ivy Deng, Jeff Cao, Jonathan Kong, Jun Wang, lisa sylphy, Mark Zhang, Paul Tseng, and Suzanne Chong arrived through the afternoon, greeting familiar faces and meeting new ones along the waterfront.
A brief welcome address opened the program, setting the spirit of the gathering as families and friends settled in together to mark a one-year milestone. From there, the afternoon eased into its heart: glasses of Burgundy wine poured, light bites shared, and conversation turning easily toward education, growth, and the lessons gathered along the way.
The mountains stood across the water as the sun began its long descent, the sky shifting through gold and orange over the sails and freighters anchored in the inlet. Stories were traded around the table, student journeys recalled, and the room filled with the easy warmth of people who had come to celebrate something earned together.
As the afternoon drew toward evening, everyone gathered once more for a final shared moment, a golden-hour close to the day's program, marking the stories and connections made and the possibilities still ahead.
The light softened into dusk over the marina, the yacht club's windows catching the last color of the sky, and the gathering came to its close with the quiet satisfaction of a day well spent on the water.
