Ganges Harbour two nights anchor Gathering

The day began with a wide blue sky over the water, a hat held against the sun and bare feet lifted toward the clouds as the two boats, CNN and Happy Eagle, settled into the anchorage off Salt Spring Island.

With the island close at hand, the gathering spread out to make the most of the bay. Some went ashore to wander the town and its market, finding the hidden corners the island is known for, while others took to a quiet dock to fish, lines cast into still water framed by pink blossoms and green leaves.

Out on the water, the day offered its own reward: a whale broke the surface in a full breach, rising against a backdrop of distant blue mountains, a moment everyone on board turned to watch.

As the light changed, the harbour itself became the view. From above, the inlet glowed gold, docks and boats drawn out along the shoreline, the forest dark and still around the warm water. The marina filled with small boats resting for the evening, their reflections scattered across the golden surface.

The two days anchored in Ganges Harbour closed gently, with the bay glowing in the last light, boats settled quietly at their moorings, and the island’s hush settling in around CNN and Happy Eagle as the gathering came to its end.
