Dent Island Run

The day began at the dock in Vancouver, where the crew gathered and set out aboard the Crew Open 37 Axopar, bound for Dent Island.

The run out was a quiet one at first, the water opening up ahead of the boat as the group settled into the journey. Along the way, a rock crowded with sea lions came into view, some hauled out together in the sun, others cutting through the swells around the boat, heads lifted and curious.

The boat carried on toward Dent Island Lodge, tucked among the trees above the rushing current of the passage. Boats lined the docks there, and the lodge itself sat quietly above the water, framed by forest on both sides.

Along the shoreline, a black bear appeared, moving over the seaweed-covered rocks at the water's edge, unhurried, watched closely by those on board.

The day ended as it began, on the water, with the island and its wildlife behind the crew and the memory of a beautiful run shared among friends.
