Squamish Escape Day

The day began at noon at House of Lager Brewing Company in Squamish, where the group gathered before splitting into two for the afternoon ahead.

One group headed straight out onto Howe Sound for the floating sauna, its dark wooden cabin set on a deck of its own, deck chairs waiting in the open air with the mountains rising all around. The other group spent that same stretch of time ashore and on the water, taking in the waterfront and the nearby park.

At half past one, both groups came together out on the water and traded places, so that everyone had their turn at the floating sauna and their turn exploring Howe Sound by boat. Against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks and steep granite cliffs, the still water reflected the early evening light as the sauna sat anchored, chairs turned toward the view.

Once both activities were complete, the group returned to Squamish, settling in near House of Lager Brewing Company and the nearby park for food, drinks, and easy conversation, with nowhere in particular to be.

For those not ready to let the day end, one more trip out onto Howe Sound awaited, a final chance to linger on the water as the light softened over the mountains.

The day closed the way it began, together in Squamish, unhurried, with the sound and the peaks as a backdrop to the whole afternoon.
